If I were to be a Famous Writer (Poem) by Lynda Gray

If I were to be a Famous Writer by Lynda Gray

If I were to be a famous writer

when would I awaken

would it be to the noxious sound of traffic

near my beating heart

or would it be to the sound of the kookaburra

laughing on the dawn of sundown

or then again would it be in amongst the

time of owls and snakes and the beasts of

the night, or would it be to the sound, the taste,

and the touch of precious daylight

in any hour or is it that the creative urge does lurk

quite near and would strike again in amongst the

routine of the passing day.
